We had our first race at our home track this weekend, at Ossippee, and on Saturday we had the normal kinks to work out with the lights in the morning, but other than that the day went good. Also the area looked a little brighter as there are not as many trees on the premises now.

The new tower, in progress, is going to be a nice addition to our track as well.  I got the opportunity to sit in the tower on Saturday and announce.  Meme was in Florida, and Amy was doing the computer and she needed some help.  Now I have a good appreciation for what the girls do in the tower during a race. Between registering racers, updating the computer, plugging in numbers when racers come to the line, keeping track of racers on the track, keeping track of the points and answering questions, they do have their work cut out for them… We all need to thank them the next race for their dedication….as we couldn’t race without them..

I see that Larry Reed has a new paint job and of course I had to ask him if his ride was faster with that new paint job but he said its hard to tell because he needs a spoiler on the back because he is going so fast that the front end doesn’t touch the ground… okie dokie Larry…. we will let him keep believing that.... J   It was really good to see Bonnie back in the street class because.. Rob needs some kind of competition.

It was also nice to see Norm Picard back this year and the new racers that attended our first race in Sanford.   I heard that Greg Seward will not be racing this year and he will be missed.

There was an animal eliminator on Saturday and Larry Reed won and Justin Libby came in second place, of course Justin had to rub it in that he didn’t have to buy back like Larry did.

Sunday was a good day even though it started out rainy. We had a good turnout and the spectators seemed to be having a good time.  I had a chance to talk with a couple of new racers in the 4 x 4 street class on Sunday.  One of them, Diane Kitchen, who by the way is the girl who beat Robbie, said that she was new to drag racing and that the Sanford race was her first one. She is from No. Berwick and she said she likes race. Of course I did tell her that we were all proud of her for taking the Aggravator out last time. J

Another racer I got to talk with was Matt Astburg from Bangor.  He was racing the black Ford truck that was named Hair Trigger. Very nice looking truck indeed!  I had a chance to look at the side of his truck and he has a nice picture of a skeleton holding a shotgun. He said that he raced at the Barnyard last year and that is how he found out about our club.  He said it is worth driving 3 hours from Bangor to get to make some passes with his truck instead of it being a lawn ornament.  I told him what we do during the year with the Fall National dinner and so forth and he said he was looking forward to all of those events.  If you get a chance go up and introduce yourself to him and tell him which class you race in.

Mark Jones broke his car on Sunday with a broken yoke, driveshaft and u joint.  Good thing he kept that car under control when it broke… Darryl also broke down with his chain coming off and stripping his sprocket.

Terry Taylor seemed to be flying down the track as usual as his car is very fast and he took Larry right out which was an excellent race.

The ATV racers seem to be having a good time on Sunday as well and it was good to see all of the Juniors there too.

Just a reminder that our next race with be at the Barnyard on June 13th and 14th.  Lets plan on anyone who will be spending the night at Barnyard on Saturday to bring a dish for dinner and we can have a potluck. If you can email me with what you might bring, I will post it in about a week so people can see what variety we will have for dinner.  My email is darleneperry08@yahoo.com    See the race results below.  Points will be posted by Wednesday….Hoping you all have good days till we meet again!
